...I realize this might get kind of old, coming from me -- and that a lot of you aren't from a universe like mine. I might have ruffled some feathers last time I made an entry like this, and I apologize. But this is important, and it might be in your universes, too.

Anyway, today is Armistice Day. I think it's called Veterans' Day, now, and it's a day to thank and honor people who've served in wars. So -- well, thanks, to anyone on this boat who's done that. Your service -- and sometimes, your sacrifice -- is definitely appreciated.

We used to go to the parade when I was a kid. [The cemetery, too, but he's not mentioning that.]

This place could use a good parade. My city back home has one about every month; I'm getting homesick for the distraction.

I don't know if we have enough space for that kinda thing.

[silvestris]

Don't remind me. I never knew I was claustrophobic until I got here.

Well, the CES ain't half bad.

Is that the hot new club?

[thestarspangledman]

No, it's sort of a computerized room that ...it's hard to explain.

[silvestris]

[She starts to ask if he means it's like on Star Trek but...well. 1940's.]

Tell me it's more thrilling than it sounds. I've seen computer games, honey.

[That was the right decision, Selina, good job.]

I don't think there's actual trees in computer games, are there? These look real. Well, it's any place you want, really, as long as it ain't a city or something like that.

[silvestris]

Where do you go? Or, make the computer make?

[thestarspangledman]

Central Park. It hasn't changed all that much from when I was a kid.

[silvestris]

[She looks away, shy, a little ashamed. She never did have the chance to see New York.] Must be nice. Do they make it like you remember or did you have to get used to a modern park?

[thestarspangledman]

It's like when I was a kid. Kinda nice to have it here, actually.

[silvestris]

[She looks back at him, keeping her expression so carefully neutral. Go ahead, turn her down if you want, she's ready.] Could you show me sometime? What it was like back then?

[thestarspangledman]

[There's a little shrug, and a smile.] Sure, I don't see why not.

[A beat.] How are you getting along with Agent Carter?

[silvestris]

Better than I expected. She's a little straight-laced, but I think there's a hellcat under her skin. Guess we'll find out.

Is she your boss back home or something?

[thestarspangledman]

There sure is.

[There's a little sheepish kind of grin, and he rubs the back of his neck.] She worked with a group I was involved with, back home. She knew me when I was -- well, a lot smaller.

[silvestris]

[She chuckles. Sheepish boys just make her feel so predatory.] And when did you meet her wild side, Steve?

Well, shucks, first day I met her she punched a fella in the jaw. [--Probably not what Selina was talking about, and he knows it, but he's playing it safe.]

[silvestris]

[She stifles a laugh] Sounds about right. Did he deserve it?

[thestarspangledman]

Sure did, the guy was a jackass.

[silvestris]

Well don't hold back now. What'd he do?

[thestarspangledman]

Insulted her on the first day of basic.

[silvestris]

It wasn't you, was it?

[thestarspangledman]

Of course not. I know how to treat a lady right.
