....So, uh -- that was a flood. Huh. Thanks, Dick, for the clothes. I'll return them as soon as I've got 'em clean. [Yes, he's all back to normal size now.]

Anyway. To anyone who I might've said hello to, hi again. Properly, this time -- I'm Captain Steve Rogers. Nice to have you aboard the barge.

[Private to Agent Peggy Carter:]

I'm not... sure if this is going to work right, but -- hi, Peggy. [A slight pause, and then there's a small, slightly embarrassed, slightly nervous smile appearing on his face.]

I'm sorry about -- uh, well. Not knowing you. Apparently floods do that. But I'll do my best to make sure it doesn't happen again. We should talk, in any case, and I'm pretty sure I owe you a dance, if you don't mind it being a bit delayed.

Hello again, Steve.

[A little bit of an awkward fidget.]

Well -- you're a lot like him, actually, sometimes. Even if you don't realize it. I mean, just -- in the way you act around people. He did that too, at least in public and all. He was a good fella to drink with, even though I -- well, can't, but. [A little shrug.]

He wanted to help serve his country, protect his home, same as the rest of us did. He was real good at what he did, even if it wasn't quite as good as you are. I think -- besides Peggy and Erskine, he was one of the first people to accept me for -- what I could do. What I wanted to do. He also followed rules about as well as I did.

No, son, just a captain in the army. Sorry.

Starks don't follow rules.

[He's leaning forward, folding his hands in front of his face, hiding his mouth as he rests against them. He just... looks carefully thoughtful]

Right, so. Same shit I've always heard about him. Me being my father's son in just about every way possible. [There's a... pretty heavy pause, there]

[Steve leans back a bit, for his part, leaning up against the wall of his room.]

[Sorry, man, he calls full grown SHIELD agents 'son', sometimes.]

Hello. [A little wave.] I haven't seen the Admiral yet, and I've been here about a month or so now. Just heard him.

It looks as though you've grown into your dog tags.

They ended the US Japan conflicts during World War II.

[He's just staring at a point over the top of his communicator, hands still folded in front of his mouth]

Dad took them from being things that'd level a block to what they are now.

[The babyface gets him called 'kid' and 'son' a lot. It's just something Chris though he might have escaped here. Apparently not.]

I just got here and I want to talk to him. Everybody says they don't see him, though. Sounds like he's God or something. [He chuckles ruefully on that last part.]

...Yeah, I did that a while ago.

Not my god. [There's a bit of a lipquirk.] Who knows, you might get lucky.

[And Steve bites his lip thoughtfully.]

Your dad was -- just trying to protect his country. We all were. I'm sure he thought it was best at the time.

And then again more recently. I presume your growth had something to do with your extended lifespan.

Maybe. [A shrug.] What did you do?

I -- just came 'cause it was the right thing to do, I didn't really do anything.

That's what they tell me.

[A pause.] So you're a warden, not an inmate.

Don't worry about it. They're actually Tim's, the apartment I've got here has got some extra stuff of him and our adoptive dad's.
