I'm -- just a soldier, honest. There's no one here I actually served with, so it's hard to verify, but I did do my bit. I wanted to.

[A beat.] You're a soldier. I mean sure, you haven't done some --very good things. But I don't know if anyone could be completely perfect all the time.

[He raises an eyebrow at him.] I'll tell you kid being a soldier was the easiest fucking thing I could do. Being a mask, being with- [He swallows] being with a woman. Didn't make any fucking sense.

[He knows why it didn't, but he doesn't yet have the words to attempt to manifest his frustration and disgust with humanity. How he didn't understand why they didn't just fight, or allow others to fight for them if they weren't capable themselves.

How to even relate to them with his whole life in violence.]

I liked it. Fighting. Made sense. Last port made sense. More sense then I want to think about.

For a place that is supposed to be about redemption, they seem to be awfully angry. I could offer excuses. You've seen my file. You know my history.

At the very least I could have said that I feared this was a Veidt compound and I was afraid for my life but none of them seem to think that matters. Or cares.
